Solution During Joomla Installation:
1. Browse to your Joomla installation directory
2. Click the folder icon of your Joomla install directory, choose ”Set file permissions”

- "An Error has occurred! Unable to open configuration.php file to write!"
Solution During Joomla Installation:
1. Browse to your Joomla installation directory
2. Create a file named 'configuration.php'
3. Click the file icon, choose "Change permissions"
3. Toogle all options to "On" (777)

Brandon, you can try replacing /var/www/vhosts with /shared/users/ i think realpath is getting the physical path, and php is not allowing it to go outside of /shared/users dir.
